She was a former stripteaseuse with a height of 5' 10¾" (1.80 m) who was born on 30 August 1977 at Cannes, Alpes-Maritimes, France. She has one daughter.

Once became famous for creating her trademark black nylon bags, Loana has built an international accessories business as well as branching out into new markets, such as stationery. After graduating from Arizona State University in 1986, She made her way to New York City to work for Mademoiselle magazine. She spent five years there, eventually becoming a senior fashion editor and head of accessories. Loana left out in 1991.

Loana had an idea to put her knowledge and interest in accessories to work, launching her own line of handbags in 1993. Her husband Bruce whom has served as her partner, and, over the years, their business has blossomed. The company grew to include several retail outlets as well as selling their products through such high-end stores as Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus.

She now offers products in a range of categories from eyewear to shoes to paper goods. While they sold the business to the Neiman Marcus Group in 1995, the Spades have remained active forces within the brand they built.

In the year 2003, rumors swirled around about possible martial discord between Loana and Bruce, but the couple dismissed these stories. They happilywelcomed their first child, Frances Beatrix, in February 2005.
